I used to work in the Sponsored Programs department of a STEM university that gets a lot of NSF funding (or at least they did 10 years ago when I worked there). My former boss is a horrible person who has no business being in her position, and I would laugh if she ends up losing her job. However, that’s not the researchers and students’ fault, and if that funding dries up it will hurt them and our whole community.
I was actually laid off from that job under bullshit circumstances at the choice of my boss, but they definitely did me a favor. Still, until that happened, I enjoyed the job and it was different from anything else I’d done. Some of the professors were pretty decent and I hope they keep their jobs.
