February 21, 2025 at 12:16 pmHonest question – I’ve heard that produce prices will go up because the may not be enough people to pick the produce. Does that also apply to planting of produce?
I think everyone should have a garden, even if it’s one pot on a windowsill, but is there going to be a shortage?

February 22, 2025 at 2:31 pmNothing would surprise me as far as produce and planting/harvesting. We usually have a small veggie garden (tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, squash, peppers). We had planned to expand this year, however, we may have to move for job reasons, so I’m not sure if we’ll be doing a regular garden this year.

Community/commons plots work well here in Canberra but might not be great in cities. I have a friend who sustained himself through uni by growing veggies in polystyrene boxes on a balcony.

March 4, 2025 at 5:23 amCheck your local library. Ours has a Seed Library. You “check out” seeds, plant your garden. At the end of the growing season you collect seeds from your produce to return to the library. Ours even ran a program on how to collect various seed types.
